New CEO John Ternus leads the next chapter for US tech giant
DUBAI – Apple has unveiled a major lineup of new products at its 2026 “Surprise and Shine” event, with new CEO John Ternus making his debut at the company’s annual product launch.
The event was headlined by the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5.
The iPhone 18 Pro models, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 will become available on September 18, while the iPhone Duo will arrive later in October.
iPhone Duo
Apple’s first foldable iPhone features a passport-like design with a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display when opened.
The iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip and features a custom vapour chamber designed to maintain performance during demanding tasks. It comes in Star White and Night Sky, with prices starting at $1,999.
Pre-orders for the foldable iPhone will begin on October 16, with the device reaching customers and stores on October 23.
The iPhone Duo also introduces a new approach to multitasking through iOS 27, allowing two apps to run side by side. Users can switch between apps, open two windows from the same application and save app pairs for later use.
iPhone 18 Pro
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max feature Apple's A20 Pro chip, built using 2nm technology, along with an upgraded camera system.
The main camera now features a variable aperture with six laser-cut blades, giving users greater control over depth of field and photography effects.
Both Pro models are offered in Deep Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy. Apple has also increased battery performance, with the company highlighting up to 30 hours of usage for the new Pro models.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be available from September 18.
Apple Watch Series 12
Apple has also introduced the Apple Watch Series 12 with a new health sensing system that the company says delivers its most accurate heart-rate sensing in a wearable.
The system provides more frequent heart-rate variability readings, with Apple claiming up to 24 times more frequent HRV readings for stress and recovery insights.
A new readiness score ranging from 0 to 10 provides recommendations based on the user's reported and measured data, including whether to recover, pace themselves or continue with their activities.
The Series 12 is available in several finishes, including dark bronze, black, light gold and space grey aluminium, as well as titanium options. Apple is also introducing ceramic finishes in Pearl White and Night Blue.
Watch Ultra 4
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is designed for users looking for greater durability and longer battery life.
It is powered by the S11 chip and offers Apple's longest battery performance among its watches, with up to 45 hours of Max Extended Workout capability.
The Ultra 4 also receives the new health sensing system and Audio Intelligence features introduced across Apple's latest wearable lineup.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at $799, with pre-orders already open and deliveries beginning on September 18.
AirPods 5
Apple has also launched AirPods 5, with the company promising improved noise cancellation and audio performance.
The new earbuds offer up to 1.5 times the Active Noise Cancellation capability of the previous generation, representing a 50 per cent improvement over AirPods 4 with ANC.
AirPods 5 also feature an updated multiport acoustic system designed to improve audio quality. Integration with Siri AI and Live Translation adds new software-based capabilities to the earbuds.
Pre-orders are open, with AirPods 5 scheduled to begin shipping on September 18.
Software updates
Apple also announced several software features alongside its hardware launches.
iOS 27 brings Siri AI with personal context understanding, while a new Apple reference image feature is designed to help users verify the authenticity of photographs.
The update also introduces iPhone Handoff, allowing users to switch between two iPhones using the same number, as well as a redesigned Health app.
The Health app includes a new Longevity section and Health Age feature, expanding Apple's focus on long-term health and wellness tracking.
